“Kaddish to a Life not Lived.”

After mounting two successful off-Broadway runs of Aeschylus’s Oresteia (2010), translated by Despina Kontaxis and Euripides’s Iphigenia in Tauris (2011), Leonidas Loizides’s acting troupe will return in the Fall of 2012 to present “Kaddish to a Life not Lived.” In this moving monologue, written by Michalis Kokkinaris, translated by Despina Kontaxis, and performed by Eftychia Loizidi, a Jewish woman named Sarah shares her final thoughts before being killed at Auschwitz. In unforgettable words, she mourns for the life that she will never live with the man she loves, the children she will never hold in her arms, and the simple dreams she will never see fulfilled.

Despina Kontaxis është një poete greke, përkthyese dhe me profesion është fizioterapiste.
Ka botuar tre vellime poetike dhe tre botime të tjera në fushën e profesionit të saj.

Despina ka marrë pjesë në shumë konkurse poetike dhe është vlerësuar me çmime të shumta Kombëtare dhe Ndërkombëtare.

Ajo ka qenë anëtare e Komitetit Shkencor të Fizioterapia në Kavala, Greqi Veriore, ku është shpërblyer nga Shoqata Panhelenike Fizioterapisë.

DESPINA KONTAXIS

Despina Kontaxis is a Physiotherapist and a Poetess. She has published 6 books, 3 having Physiotherapy topics and 3 being poetic collections.

She has participated in many poetic competitions and has being Organizing
Comitee in many Physiotherapy Congresses. She has been a member of the Scientific Comitee of Physiotherapy at Kavala, Northern Greece. She has also translated “Oresteia” by Aeshylus in english for an off Broadway production that toured America in 2010-2011. Between the numerous awards of Mrs Despina Kontaxis are the following important :

• Award-Metal of benefactor of the Nomarchy of Kavala.
• Award of the Municipality of Eleftheroupolis Kavala, Greece.
• Award of the Panhellenic Physiotherapy Association.
• Metal by the United Poets Laureate International.
• International Book Award «Alexander Papadiamantis» for the poetic collection «The solitude of the bedwalker».
• International Book Award «Midnight» for the bilingual poetic collection «The purple kiss».
• Metal with the name «Ares» at the 1st Mediterranean Poetry Festival.
• Award for her poetic tribute by the International Society of Greek Writers and Artists.
• The only greek poetess that reached the top 10 by the UN for her poem “Hibakusha”

I search for you in the color of the moon.
In the light of the night.
At the silver clouds of the night sky.
At the moon rays
that company you at evenings…

In the street that tugs you.
In the silence that breaks your bones.
In the love that donates smiles.
In the desire that begins to plash
under the moonlight.

Silver cochleas the thoughts
mirror their passions.
Boats that waterslide the glances
they are waiting to cross the crowd
so that they will meet.

Sparks invest the the night sky.
Brushworks of light the night canvas
portray. Where are you?

The doubts beseechers
that are trying to get between us
and dispute turns the handle of loneliness.

The night carries secrets upon her shoulders
and the day counts meetings
upon her fingers.
The pebble of wish
encircles in her hand
and with its throw
the concentric rings
of hope forms.

Black silhouettes

Black silhouettes
are walking under the moonlight
so fast and absent minded
that they have almost not noticed
that the night has come.
The night unfolds her magic
and colors with silver brushes
their carefree auras.

These want to meet
secretly and to fold
into one another.
To commix like colours
on a white canvas
and create their own
locations.

Splashes of kisses,
splashes of strokes
touches long drawned out on the canvas
like on their bodies.
Creation.
Of kisses. Of colours. Of pratfalls.

ΣΕ ΑΝΑΖΗΤΩ…

Σε αναζητώ στο χρώμα της σελήνης.
Στο φως της νύχτας.
Στα ασημί σύννεφα του νυχτερινού ουρανού.
Στις φεγγαρένιες αχτίδες
που σε συντροφεύουν τα βράδια…

Στο δρόμο που σε συνοδεύει.
Στη σιωπή που κόκαλα τσακίζει.
Στην αγάπη που χαμόγελα χαρίζει.
Στην επιθυμία που αρχίζει και παφλάζει
κάτω από το φεγγαρόφως…

Ασημένιοι κοχλίες οι σκέψεις
αντανακλούν τα πάθη τους.
Καράβια που υδατοδρομούν οι ματιές
περιμένουν το πλήθος να διασχίσουν
ώστε να συναντηθούν.

Σπίθες επενδύουν το βραδινό ουρανό.
Πινελιές φωτός το νυχτερινό καμβά
ζωγραφίζουν. Πού είσαι;

Οι αμφιβολίες ικέτες
ανάμεσά μας να μπουν προσπαθούν
και η αμφισβήτηση το πόμολο της μοναξιάς γυρίζει.

Η νύχτα κουβαλά μυστικά στους ώμους της
κι η μέρα μετρά συναντήσεις
στα δάκτυλά της.
Το βότσαλο της ευχής
περικλείει στο χέρι της
και με τη ρίψη του
τους ομόκεντρους κύκλους
της ελπίδας σχηματίζει.

Despina Kontaxis: The only greek poetess in five continets anthology.

The erotic poetry of Despina Kontaxis charmed at the World Poetry Festival in Ohrid. The festival is under the auspices of UNESCO and the poets that are allowed to participate do so after they receive personal invitations. The internationally awarded book “The purple kiss” by Despina Kontaxis amazed and its poems were included in the five continents anthology, while they were translated in slavic. Mrs Kontaxis is the only greek included in the anthology.

The Mongolian conselor Lee Namdag Janchivin said about her poetry “Even if we do not know greek it sounds so beautiful that we are moved”

Δέσποινα Κονταξή: Η μοναδική ελληνίδα στην ανθολογία των πέντε ηπείρων

Μάγεψε η ερωτική ποίηση της Δέσποινας Κονταξή στο Παγκόσμιο Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης, στην Οχρίδα. Το Φεστιβάλ τελεί υπό την αιγιδα της ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ και οι ποιητές οι οποίοι έχουν το δικαίωμα να συμμετάσχουν επιλέγονται από την επιτροπή του Φεστιβάλ κατόπιν προσωπικής επιστολής που λαμβάνουν. Το διεθνώς βραβευμένο βιβλίο "Το πορφυρό φιλί" της Δέσποινας Κονταξή κατενθουσίασε και συμπεριλήφθηκαν ποιήματά του στην ανθολογία των πέντε ηπείρων, τα οποία μεταφράστηκαν και στα Σλάβικα. Η κ. Κονταξή είναι η μοναδική ελληνιδα η οποία συμπεριλήφθηκε στην εν λόγω ανθολογία.

Ο εκπρόσωπος της Μογγολίας Lee Namdag Janchivin χαρακτήρισε την ποίηση της "Τόσο εύηχη που ακόμα κι αν δεν ξέρουμε ελληνικά ο τρόπος που παρουσιάστηκε μας κέντρισε το ενδιαφέρον και μας γέμισε συναισθήματα".

In Ritsos's steps Despina Kontaxis is being invited by SPE to attent a World Poetry Event in order to represent her country Greece. Despina Kontaxis is the youngest Poetess in the world to receive the medal by UPLI and her presence to this festival is a great honor for her country, Greece. In the same festival Ritsos was awarded in 1985 and it is remarkable the fact that the poets can only attent after their selection by the SPE comittee.

Στα βήματα του Ρίτσου η Δέσποινα Κονταξή είναι προσκεκλημένη του SPE να παρευρεθεί σε Παγκόσμιο Ποιητικό Δρώμενο ώστε να αντιπροσωπεύσει τη χώρα της την Ελλάδα. Η Δέσποινα Κονταξή είναι η νεότερη Ποιήτρια στον κόσμο η οποία βραβεύτηκε με το μετάλλιο της UPLI και η παρουσία της στο Φεστιβάλ είναι μια μεγάλη τιμή για τη χώρα της, την Ελλάδα. Στο ίδιο φεστιβαλ ο Ρίτσος είχε βραβευτεί το 1985 και είναι αξιοσημείωτο το γεγονός ότι οι ποιητές μπορούν να συμμετάσχουν μόνο κατόπιν επιλογής τους από της επιτροπή SPE.

Honorable guest at Vitrina Univeristy in Tirana

Despina Kontaxis was an honorable guest at Vitrina University in Tirana where she presented her speeches on Helenistic Poetry and South African Literature.

Η Δέσποινα Κονταξή ως επίτιμη προσκεκλημένη στο Πανεπιστήμιο Βιτρίνα στα Τίρανα όπου παρουσίασε τις ομιλίες της με θέμα Ελληνιστική ποίηση και λογοτεχνία της Νοτίου Αφρικής.

Με επιτυχία ολοκληρώθηκε η συνέντευξη που πραγματοποιήθηκε την Πέμπτη 12 Απριλίου στην εκπομπή του Άρη Γαλανόπουλου και στο ραδιόφωνο του ANT1. Το θέμα αφορούσε την επιλογή και τη βράβευση της Δέσποινας Κονταξή από τη Ακαδημία Αναζήτησης Ταλέντων Μαχάτμα Φούλε στο Ναγκπούρ της Ινδίας.

Great work by Despina Kontaxis as she managed to be the only European selected by the Mahatma Fule Talent Research Academy to be awarded with Mahatma Fule award for her remarkable work in the field poetry as well as keeping the name of Greece high. Let us help her by spreading the word.

Υπέροχη δουλειά από τη Δέποινα Κονταξή μια και κατέφερε να είναι η μοναδική Ευρωπαία η οποία επιλέκτηκε από την Ακαδημία Αναζήτησης Ταλέντων Μαχάτμα Φούλε ώστε να της απονεμηθεί το βραβείο Μαχάτμα Φούλε για την εκπληκτική ικανότητά της στον τομέα της ποίησης και για το γεγονός ότι κράτησε τη φήμη της Ελλάδας ψηλά. Υποψήφια για το "Νόμπελ" της Ινδίας η Δέσποινα Κονταξή

Δεν αποτελεί έκπληξη πλέον το γεγονός ότι η φυσικοθεραπεύτρια και διεθνώς πολυβραβευμένη ποιήτρια κ.Δέσποινα Κονταξή είναι υποψήφια για αρκετά διεθνή βραβεία κατά καιρούς. Αυτή τη φορά κατάφερε η πένα της να μαγέψει τους Ινδούς Aκαδημαϊκούς και τη θέσουν υποψήφια για το βραβείο του φιλόσοφου Φούλε που θεωρείται μία διάκριση για τους Ινδούς ισάξια του βραβείου νόμπελ.

"Είναι η πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία του θεσμού που είναι υποψήφιος κάποιος από την Ελλάδα" δήλωσε ο Dr Pandurang υπεύθυνος της επιλογής των υποψηφίων.

Η τελετή θα πραγματοποιηθεί τον Απρίλιο στο Ναγκπούρ στην Ινδία και οι φήμες θέλουν την κ. Δέσποινα Κονταξή να αποτελεί σημαντικό φαβορί ανάμεσα στους υποψηφίους. Σημαντικό κριτήριο αποτέλεσε το γεγονός ότι η κ. Κονταξή βραβεύτηκε πέρυσι το καλοκαίρι από τη Διεθνή Ακαδημία Τέχνης της Αμερικής κατατάσσοντάς την στους Δαφνοστεφανωμένους ποιητές του κόσμου, ενώ σε διεθνή ποιητικό διαγωνισμό του ΟΗΕ για τους επιζήσαντες από την ατομική βόμβα στην Ιαπωνία κατάφερε να είναι η μοναδική Ελληνίδα η οποία έφτασε τα 10 καλύτερα ποιήματα στον κόσμο.

Διεθνής Γιορτή Ποιητών- International Celebration of Poets

Η Διεθνώς Πολυβραβευμένη Ποιήτρια Δέσποινα Κονταξή επιλέχτηκε να συμπεριληφθεί στην ανθολογία της Διεθνούς Εταιρίας Ελλήνων Λογοτεχνών και Καλλιτεχνών. Της ευχόμαστε καλή επιτυχία. Η ανθολογία θα παρουσιαστεί τον Μάρτιο στο Δήμο Αθηναίων.
